I was recently invited to present a talk entitled ‘Understanding Teenage Mental Health’ at our local branch of Cafe Science. Cafe Science is an offshoot of the international organisation, Cafe Scientifique, which aims to provide science research to the general public in a relaxed and informal setting.
Our local branch is linked to the University of Dundee, Abertay University, and Dundee Science Centre.
My talk was based on my PhD research and focused on the current mental health crisis facing young people, and how we could best address this utilising the power of social groups.
I greatly appreciated the opportunity to speak to such a diverse and engaged audience, and felt that I learned as much from my audience as they did from me!
Thank you again to the organisers of the event, and the Science Centre, for hosting us.
